20th National Potato day Saturday January 26th and Sunday January 27th.
The first National Potato Day was held in 1994 by Garden Organic, previously know as the Henery Doubleday Research Association (HDRA). Since then many more organisations hold their own ‘Potato Day’, promoting the growing of British potatoes.
Todays gardeners can choose from 100’s of varieties, ranging from heritage to the latest Sarpo seed potatoes, and this weekend will raise awareness of the need to protect the diversity of British potatoes.
Many of the events around the UK feature talks, tastings and tips from experts, along with sales of lesser know, or hard to obtain varieties.
